The parents of basketballer Kris Humphries are pulling the plug on their marriage, as their famous son remains locked in a bitter divorce battle of his own with socialite Kim Kardashian.
Kris’ mother Debra filed for divorce from her husband of more than two decades, William, earlier this month, TMZ said Sunday. The soon-to-be exes have three adult children: Kris and his two older sisters, Krystal and Kaela.
William owns several Five Guys Burgers and Fries fast food restaurants throughout the Humphries’ home state of Minnesota — which could prompt a debate over money, insiders say.
Meanwhile, Kim is reportedly getting impatient with the drawn-out divorce proceedings from her last ill-fated 72-day nuptials with Kris. Lawyers acting for the Nets star and his estranged wife appeared in court last week as part of the ongoing divorce proceedings.
Kim has retained the services of hotshot divorce attorney-to-the-stars Laura Wasser. She complained that her client has already racked up a $250,000 bill in legal fees yet it is unclear what Kris — who is seeking an annulment as he claims the couple’s marriage was a fraud — is trying to achieve in dragging out the case.
“We’re just moving forward. My client just wants to be divorced.”
